Who·ology

The time has come where we wrap up the season by talking about "Death in Heaven" and then turn our attention to the season as a whole. What did we see in the final confrontation between Missy and the Doctor and how did that play itself out through the season? Also, what are we hoping and guessing for the future of all our heroes (and villains)? We call in everyone for this extended episode; Mark, Laura, Mandy, and Fizz.

The End is Nigh! Part one of the two part finale is in the books and we can't decide if it is terrible or really good. That, though, is the nature of two part episodes. We will be able to fully judge it after Saturday's conclusion, but in the meantime, there are so many metaphors that need to be explored, we have a hard time keeping it all in such a short show.

We hit double digits in Season 8 and in our first series of Who·ology! When a forest grows up over night and not only takes over London-- but the whole planet, what are we to think? With children missing, a solar flare looming, the Doctor scheming, and Clara and Danny trying to figure things out, we are pulled in a number of different directions this week!

Everything is about the monsters in Episode 009. In what feels more like a classic Doctor Who episode, we have some very interesting happenings cropping up around a very fascinating alien presence that is trying to figure out our dimension. We also get to ask ourselves, through Clara, “What is the cost of being the Doctor?”

Episode 008 hits us with a surprise as The Doctor is still being accompanied by Clara. After their blowup, we see that they’ve agreed to give it one final “hurrah!” But as this classy evening turns out to be more than a casual train ride, Clara begins to wrestle with her continued travels with The Doctor and we begin to see just who may be addicted to what.

Episode 007 opens up with Clara throwing us right into things, “Hello Earth. We have a terrible decision to make…” From there things do not calm down. We don’t have a shortage of things to talk about and we also have to politely disagree with the internet about how things play out. We also try to explain why everyone’s favorite part of this episode is our least favorite of the season. debate!

As Season 8 reaches the halfway point, we finally get what seems to be the long-awaited meeting of Danny Pink and The Doctor. Does it go as planned or as we imagined? We talk about that and we do it with a special guest, and fellow Whovian, Mandy Rosenberry!

Episode 005 of Who·ology takes us on another detour adventure to the most secure bank in the Universe. Immediately we are thrown into a scenario where the Doctor, Clara, and two new accomplices, Psi and Saibra, are breaking into the aforementioned bank. Why are they there? Will they pull it off? What are they willing to do for the thing they want most in the Universe?

Episode 004 of Who·ology gives us a lot to ponder as we humanize the Doctor even more with the help of everyone's favorite Impossible Girl, Clara. While Clara is trying to navigate her first date with a co-worker, The Doctor is trying to get to the bottom of a mysterious creature that can hide so well, it's possible it has never been seen.

Our first guest! Mark Wingerter from Reel World Theology (and avid Whovian) joins us to talk about the most fun episode of Doctor Who so far this season, “Robot of Sherwood.” Not quite as deep or heavy as the previous two episodes, but there is still a lot to talk about and, as usual, so many things to quote!

Episode 002 of the show has us not only diving further into the depths of Season 8, but also deep into the depths of a Dalek! While this episode reminded us both a lot of Season 1, Episode 06 “Dalek” it also brings a little more to the table by building on a theme we have seen running through Doctor Who for awhile: Is the Doctor Good?

Episode 001 of Who·ology starts in a very convenient place-- Episode 01 of Season 08. Our first real glimpse of Peter Capaldi is a good one. We also get Clara wrestling with everything she thinks she knows about the Doctor and some old friends helping her (and possibly the audience) see that though the appearance may change, the Doctor is still the Doctor!
