In November, General Motors announced it would be shutting down several factories, leaving thousands of workers without a job. One of these plants was in Lordstown, Ohio. The shuttering of the Lordstown plant is incredibly painful, not only for the workers who now have to figure out what’s next, but for the entire community. On January 24, members from that community gathered in the auditorium of Lordstown High School to share their stories and talk about how the closing plant will impact them. These are the stories of teachers, factory workers, union members and children -- all of them want the same thing: to protect these jobs and save Lordstown. John McManus is a Democrat and a Member-Elect of the Dayton Board of Education, and he is currently running for Ohio State Representative for District 41. John has spent his entire adult career in government service at the state and federal levels specializing in legislative, administrative, regulatory, and media affairs. He also serves as the executive director of the Sunlight Project, a small charitable organization dedicated to the elderly and people with disabilities in nursing homes and assisted living facilities. John hopes to bring his experience in government management to the Board to better implement a strategic public-sector vision that ensures effective and efficient government for the Dayton community.

Michael is running for Franklin County Auditor because he believes government should watch its money as closely as you do.
