Khalid Sabree was born in Harlem and grew up in the projects. His parents came from the south and discovered Islam in New York City during the days of Malcolm X. His artistic influences include Prince, A Tribe Called Quest, Basquiat, Jacob Lawrence, and Romare Bearden.
