Episode 159: The End
26/10/2018 Duración: 02minIn this, the final, episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk about the reasons behind the (probably somewhat surprising!) end of the podcast. It's short, as you might expect given my general lack of loquaciousness, so just give it a listen to find out why I'm stopping the podcast. Oh, and be sure to check out and support the Logan Whitehurst Kickstarter in case you haven't already done so!

Episode 158: Interview with Kirby Krackle #2
19/10/2018 Duración: 42minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to Kyle Stevens from Kirby Krackle. It's hard to believe he was last on way back in 2015 for episode 8! Kirby Krackle's latest release is Suburban Hearts / Vigilante Hymns. It's a decidedly different direction, more mellow and stripped down (it's just Kyle and the guitar / ukulele), less specifically geeky, but it's not nearly as surprising as it might seem given several tracks from the last few albums. Songs played in the show: "You and I" "Oh, This Year" (I did, however, cut out the coda at the end. It's worth checking out, of course, but it would have made for some weird podcasting…) "Suburban Hearts / Vigilante Hymns"

Episode 157: Interview with Jace McLain #2
12/10/2018 Duración: 36minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to Jace McLain. This time, he's on to talk about his record label, Needlejuice Records. Currently they are running a Kickstarter to rerelease Logan Whitehurst's opus, Goodbye, My 4-Track, on cassette, CD, and vinyl. We also talk about other releases from the label. Songs played in the show (all by Logan Whitehurst and the Junior Science Club): "The Robot Cat" "The Ice Cream Man" "Your Brain Fell Out"
-

-

28/09/2018 Duración: 35minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to More or Les. Songs played in the show: "Nerd Love" "Hidden in Plain Sight" "Choose Your Own Avenger (Mighty Version)"

14/09/2018 Duración: 01h13minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk to Ryako. Songs played in the show: "Starfleet Boys" "Big Damn Heroes" "Full of Stars"
-
Episode 152: Interview with Sarah Donner
07/09/2018 Duración: 41minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk to Sarah Donner. Her latest release is Broadway Nerds Sing Broadway which features many guests that have also appeared on this podcast. She's also one half of the band Kittens Slay Dragons, a more electronic group that allows her to explore some different musical territory. Plus she's a cat lover and makes "Covered in Kittens" videos in which she performs covers while surrounded by cats. Awesome! Songs played in the show: "Suddenly Seymour" (feat. Professor Shyguy) "Lifetime" "Gatekeeper"
-
Episode 151: Interview with Mayor Wertz #2
31/08/2018 Duración: 41minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to Mayor Wertz. His latest release is Try Harder, which is also his first full album as Mayor Wertz. It maintains his expected sense of humor, but it also feels more personal, something he talked about on his last appearance as well. Songs played in the show: "Public Policy Announcement" "I Think I'm Gonna Die (My Girl's Into True Crime)" "Dad Life"
-
Episode 150: Interview with The Grammar Club
24/08/2018 Duración: 52minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk to members of The Grammar Club. Their latest release is Live Slow. Die Whenever. It's a noticeable step up in terms of production and "sophistication," although you can still expect their usual experimental pop and sorta oddball sense of humor as well. Songs played in the show: "Live Slow. Die Whenever" "Cookiepuss" "Radio Chad"
-
Episode 149: Interview with Kraken Not Stirred #3 (Banked)
17/08/2018 Duración: 32minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to Mike Bryant of Kraken Not Stirred. This is a banked episode, recorded several months ago, so we talk about non-timely stuff. I did include a couple of his recent tracks just in case you've never checked him out before! Songs played in the show: "I Rolled a 20 When I Met You" "The Droid I'm Looking For"
-
Episode 148: Interview with Mikal kHill #4
10/08/2018 Duración: 01h01minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk yet again to Mikal kHill (technically his fifth appearance, but one was a "team-up" with cecilnick). His latest release is the beachy keen EP which consists of surf rock versions of five of his tracks. As odd as that might sound, it's actually really great because kHill and the band took it seriously even while having fun with it. Songs played in the show: "The Moon" "R. Dorothy Wayneright" "Punch Up"
-
Episode 147: Interview with MC Breath #2
03/08/2018 Duración: 43minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to MC Breath. His latest release is Creepshots, which features more story telling songs than his previous releases, but keeps his odd sense of humor and use of dialogue samples from the 70s and 80s. Songs played in the show: "Creepshots" "I Wish I Was Dead" "Molly McButter"
-
Episode 146: Interview with Gray Rinehart
27/07/2018 Duración: 01h03minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk to Gray Rinehart. His most recent release, Distorted Vision, is actually from a few years ago, but he has a few new songs that you can hear when he performs live. We also talk about his writing, including his Hugo nominated story, "Ashes to Ashes, Dust to Dust, Earth to Alluvium," which unfortunately got caught up in the whole Sad Puppies / Rabid Puppies controversy (although Gray himself mostly stayed out of it. His reaction post, I think, demonstrates a measured response to the whole thing). Songs played in the show: "The Enemy's Gate Is Down" "Faded Coat of Brown" "Dead Dog Party"
-
Episode 145: Interview with Paul Melancon
20/07/2018 Duración: 39minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk to Paul Melancon. He's currently running a Kickstarter with the help of Angela Webber of the Doubleclicks. It's for a concept album about a cartoon band called The Get-Gos. The album, The Get-Gos Action Hour!, is a tour "from depression to destruction to a very strange sort of redemption. All this through the kaleidoscope of Hanna-Barbera, Amazonian shaman, and hamburgers." He's also been making music for over 20 years now, so we get into some of his history, including a hiatus he took that lead to the making of this album. Songs played in the show: "Hyperventilate" "Dark Double Bed" (from the album Hopeful Monsters by The Arts and Sciences) "Makes No Sense at All" (Hüsker Dü cover from the Theme Music project)
-
Episode 144: Interview with Insane Ian #4 (Banked Episode)
13/07/2018 Duración: 44minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to Insane Ian. This is a banked episode, appropriately recorded on April Fool's Day 2018 (which was also Easter), so we talk about non-timely stuff. I included a couple of tracks from his most recent release, Yet Another B-Side Collection, which was actually released the day we recorded! Also, his Reviewsicals album is currently available for pre-order. Songs played in the show: "The Bowling Green Fabrication Society" "Tuesday's Song (Is Not Yet Posted)"
-

Songs played in the show: "The Hunger" "Heart of the Battle" "Loom"
-
Episode 142: Interview with Grace Kendall
29/06/2018 Duración: 33minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk to Grace Kendall. Their latest release is three "verifiably favorable discs" about A Series of Unfortunate Events (one for each book, plus a bonus track about Beatrice). They've also written many Harry Potter-based (wrock) tunes which you should check out as well. Songs played in the show: "My Best Friend" "Carmelita Spats" "Villains"
-

Episode 140: Banked Episode with DJ Switch
15/06/2018 Duración: 01h09minIn this episode of the Fandomania: Geek Music podcast, I talk again to DJ Switch. His latest endeavor is Switch Box Tech, a YouTube channel where he reviews tech. Oh, and, yeah, we both realized later that I have actually been on his show before, but since he's archived the episodes it's no longer available. We are, however, working on getting me back on at some point.
