  • Meet The Locals Podcast #6: DJ Meegs

    17/12/2014 Duración: 01h38min

Well we said some time ago that the next mix in the DC House Grooves Meet the Locals Podcast would be from one of the many talented female DJs in Washington DC, and we've been waiting patiently for one of the ladies to step up to the plate. We're pleased to bring you this great mix from DJ Meegs, a familiar face on the DC underground scene. Over to Meegs to tell us a bit about herself and her mix: "Growing up in a large, loud & musically inclined Irish-American family I guess you could say my interests have revolved around social gatherings fueled by music & dancing since birth. My parents enrolled me in Irish dancing when I was four & shortly thereafter we began hosting weekly Irish music lessons at our house for over a decade. My first instruments were the tin whistle & the bodhran (Irish drum) so I danced & played competitively while performing up & down the East Coast until college when, finally and gratefully, I was introduced to electronic music. After graduation I moved to the West Coast (LA) where

  • Meet The Locals Podcast #5: Trev-Ski

    19/10/2014 Duración: 01h05min

For episode #5 of the DC House Grooves Meet the Locals Podcast, we've got an excellent mix from one of the most diverse DJs in town, Trev-Ski. Over to Trev to tell us about the mix: "This mix is my exact playlist I used at The House That U Built on October 12th 2014. Used USB sticks on some Pioneer CDJ 2000's (the second time I've ever done that! twas fun indeed!) and was vibing off of Jackson Ryland and Jus Nowhere's set of extremely proper tunes. We didn't record the night, much to my regret, but I had a early day at work the next day so I went back to the studio and played all the tunes over again in the exact same order. I like the progression of the tunes I played and the vibe so much, that I had to do a rewind. Enjoy. PM for booking and availability." Trev-Ski's upcoming gigs: Fri Oct 24th - ESL Gold Room With Ed Metaphysical Fri Oct 31st - ESL Main Room Thurs Nov 6th - ESL Main Room Fri Nov 7th - ESL Patio Sat. Nov 8th - Daikaya Fri. Nov 14th - Petworth Funk With Special Guests Tommy Cornelis A

  • Meet The Locals Podcast #4: DJ Kochi

    17/10/2014 Duración: 01h26min

We're excited to bring you the fourth episode of the DC House Grooves Meet the Locals podcast. This time around we've got an excellent mix from local stalwart DJ Kochi. Kochi has been contributing to the DC scene for many years as one half of Inkhouse and with his WTF?! Radio show at www.sugarshackrecordings.com, so we're really happy to feature his mix in the Meet the Locals podcast. Over to Kochi to tell us about the mix: "My podcast for DC House Grooves takes the listeners on waves of different subgenres of house music, from deep and soulful to disco. My intent with this mix was to give a little something that will appeal to a broad audience. I used Serato Scratch Live (SL1), two CDJ 1000s and a DJM 800 mixer to create this mix. Some special effects were applied live using the DJM mixer. I hope you dig the vibe and enjoy the mix! You can catch me Fridays from 5-7pm EST on www.sugarshackrecordings.com. I will also be headlining the Evolve one year anniversary in Nashville, TN on 10/18/2014: www.facebook.

  • Meet The Locals Podcast #3: Boss Ross

    03/10/2014 Duración: 58min

Here we are with the third edition of the DC House Grooves Meet The Locals Podcast. For this edition, we've got a superb underground mix from a regular on the local DC scene, Boss Ross. Originally hailing from Detroit, you can find Boss Ross playing regularly in and around DC. Over to the Boss himself for more about the mix: "For those who might not know me I play Detroit house and deep techno throughout the MVA area. Playing records before a sometimes captive audience for the last 4.5 years has been a great pleasure and once again I thank everyone who has given me a chance to present the music I am fortunate enough to possess. This mix attempts to combine all of the elements I like to present when I play at venues like Flash, Uhall, Tropicalia, Zeba coach and pole bar and of course the backedbar. Those elements being analog treatment, acid lines, pianos and sparse vocals. I used two Technics SL-1200M3D turntables, one Allen and Heath Xone 22 mixer, two stanton groovemaster cartridges, two mukatsuku dis

  • Meet The Locals Podcast #2: Chadwick

    21/09/2014 Duración: 01h34min

Welcome to the second edition of the DC House Grooves Meet The Locals podcast. For this edition, we have a great mix by Flash resident Chadwick: "My podcast for DC House Grooves is based on my set from the last Resident Night party at Flash. It’s a peak hour blend of techno, house and tribal rhythms layered with classic loops, effects, acapellas and personal edits. The crowd stayed late and I had a really good time playing off of their energy. The mix was created on 4 decks with 4 effects and most all of the tracks are re-touched live by enhancing the breakdowns, extending parts and blending new elements to build a mix that reflects my sets at Flash. Most importantly though, I hope it keeps your attention and throws a few surprises along the way. Enjoy!" • Meet The Locals Podcast #1: Andy Grant - Sunday Rooftop Vibes

    24/08/2014 Duración: 01h45min

For the first edition of the DC House Grooves Meet the Locals podcast we've got a great new all-vinyl mix from DC House Grooves founder Andy Grant. In his own words "The Sunday rooftop season in Washington DC is my favorite time of year, and I'm never more at home than when I'm playing records to a crowd of dancers on the rooftop in the sunshine. When your crowd has been out all weekend, they are at their most receptive to music, so you can get creative, building tension with deep, underground tracks, then releasing it with tracks more familiar to the crowd. This mix captures the the type of set I would play on the rooftop. Something there for everyone!" You can catch Andy Grant playing at Sundays Rooftop on the Dirty Bar rooftop in Washington, DC on August 31, alongside Birdsmakingmachine, Chris Nitti, R & B, Collins & Yaco: https://www.facebook.com/events/656083187820326 Andy Grant bio: http://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/andygrant Photo credit: Jason Guidry
