We usher in Fathers Day with some of the best (worst?) Dad Jokes! You know you love them! Rick gets banned from taking photos in downtown Atlanta and starts pondering hair dye for his fast aging beard. Cheri decides that it's sometimes okay not to wear a sporran or a belt with a kilt. Our music feature is a salute to Rick's hometown by Todd Steed and the Suns of Phere with a song called "North Knoxville." Hear more of Todd's music at https://toddsteed.bandcamp.com. Our Live Beer Review bakes up some Banana Bread Beer by Wells Brewing. Don't forget to subscribe and give us a review. Happy Da Day, mates!

  • LIAKP Episode 41 - Poop Pictures

    08/06/2017 Duración: 01h04min

Several new listeners have come aboard starting with Episode 41. A big welcome to everyone, both new and returning listeners. Thanks to Cheri's job promotion, it's a late night recording. Should podcasts be recorded at night? Rick has been using a great new app which records daily activities but, unfortunately requires detailed information about his... well... just let him tell the story. Cheri gives glowing reviews to the Wonder Woman movie then discusses the best and worst things about Renaissance Festivals. Rick tells a story about kilt rumors he suspects may be fake and then talks about cruel jokes now being played on teachers. To wake us up on a late night recording, our music feature is "Best Laid Mice" by The Coffee Sergeants from Austin, TX. Hear more of their music at https://coffeesergeants.bandcamp.com Speaking of coffee, our Live Beer Review is Sunset Coffee by Golden Road Brewing. Enjoy!

  • LIAKP Episode 40 - Slow Motion Accident

    01/06/2017 Duración: 01h07min

It's Episode 40 and lots of new stuff going on in the podcast. Cheri got a big promotion at work and will now be in charge of buying all the beer for our reviews. Rick was involved in a very bizarre slow motion accident and lived to tell about it. Speaking of living, Rick has been tool shopping for the survival instruments he will need while living alone for a year in the Alaska wilderness. June is National Doughnut Month and, of course we have to discuss the delicious little treats. Unfortunately, no one brought any to the recording. We roll out a new Listener Challenge and start planning our Live Game Nights. Anyone up for playing with us? This week we feature "Pony Blues" by the Bluff City Backsliders. Check them out on BandCamp! We slice open a Juicy Watermelon Lime Ale by New Belgium Brewing Company for our Live Beer Review and hope Rick can keep it down.

  • LIAKP Episode 39 - That Ass Tho

    25/05/2017 Duración: 01h13min

Rick's rather careless photography technique leads to a potentially compromising and embarrassing encounter with a complete stranger's buttocks. Regardless, Rick maintains he is no perv! Discussion of the encounter turns into an examination of why we are turned on by specific body parts. Well, now, this could get interesting. One of Cheri's friends has a celebrity encounter and it sounds like a lot of fun! Rick visits the local Goodwill store in a futile attempt to find a kilt treasure and wonders if anyone has ever gotten lucky with a thrift store kilt find. We have a new entry in our Craigslist Missed Connections Listener Challenge. Speaking of missed connections, Rick tells of several celebrities who just missed out on getting the movie roles of their lives. Our music feature this week is "Strings" by MacKenzie. Hear more of MacKenzie's music on BandCamp at https://mackenzie.bandcamp.com. Our Live Beer Review brings Christmas back with Back Home Gingerbread Stout by Golden Road Brewery. Thanks for lis

  • LIAKP Episode 38 - Mental Health

    18/05/2017 Duración: 01h12min

Things are heating up here in Atlanta but Rick is well into his way of planning a cool-down with plans to live a year in Alaska. Looks like his plans are progressing but Cheri isn't convinced he's thought it all out well. It's Mental Health month and Cheri and Rick spend some time discussing depression and their own experience with it. Our listener challenge has already produced a very capable first entry and we give it a read through. Take the challenge and send us yours! We still have lots of stickers so let us know if you'd like some. Our indie music section features "Make You Love Me" by Seth Timbs. He has lots more music on GarageBand so give him a listen. The Live Beer Review pours out a refreshing Toasted Lager by Blue Point Brewing. Sláinte!

  • LIAKP Episode 37 - North to Alaska

    11/05/2017 Duración: 01h13min

Rick has decided to move to remote Alaska for a year and live off the land. What?? Can he possibly be serious? Can a kilt wearer survive in -40 degree weather?? If he does do it, he'll be taking along his new 100% wool Sport Kilt in the County Kilkenny, Ireland tartan. It's awesome! Rick and Cheri discuss how they first met, which, strangely enough, also involves Alaska. Are there times when you should NEVER wear a kilt? We think we may have discovered a few occasions. See if you agree. We answer some listener email questions and start a new monthly feature on the show called the "Listener Challenge." Do you accept this month's Listener Challenge? Get on it then! This week's musical feature is "Sympathy Sex" by The Dead Deads. Our Live Beer Review cracks open Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout by North Coast Brewing.

  • LIAKP Episode 36 - If You Can't Take The Heat

    04/05/2017 Duración: 01h12min

It's a lazy, steamy summer day here in Atlanta. Only it isn't summer yet. How do people move around in this heat?? Blah! Rick is feeling a bit cranky after losing an unsaved illustration to a rare computer crash. Lesson learned. Cheri updates us on her big date with the mysterious Ren Fair gentleman. No word yet on whether jousting was involved. Rick had a birthday full of Billys which let him know he isn't the only one getting old. After a little month of May trivia, Cheri introduces a song from one of her favorite artists, Hamell On Trial. The song is "I Hate Your Kid" and we're pretty sure it isn't about any kids we know. The Live Beer Review pours out a beverage that is barely a beer out all and Rick and Cheri are quite divided on this one. It's Wild Blue Blueberry Lager by Blue Dog Brewery. What do YOU think of it?

  • LIAKP Episode 35 - Happy Birthday To Me

    26/04/2017 Duración: 01h04min

It's episode 35 and just happens to be Rick's birthday! Rick gives himself a big birthday present and then reads a list of the things he has finally decided to stop striving for now that he's officially an old man. Cheri goes to the Ren Fair and comes back with... A DATE! What the heck? How did this happen?? The Life In A Kilt Podcast stickers have arrived and Rick and Cheri reveal how you can get yours for FREE! Rick discovers Stillwater Kilts has been making his dream kilt pins and promptly purchases a handful of them. Cheri talks about how clutter causes her to feel more depressed, which is very bad news, taking into consideration the state of the studio. We start our music feature on this episode with "Wrecker's Den" by Three Finger Shot. You can hear more of their music at www.threefingershot.com. Our Live Beer Review brings us Duck-Rabbit Milk Stout by Duck Rabbit Brewery. Thanks for listening friends!

  • LIAKP Episode 34 - The Jazz Piper

    20/04/2017 Duración: 01h15min

Ren Fair season is starting, providing us another great reason to put on a kilt! Cheri attended opening season of the Georgia Renaissance Festival while Rick was working late painting. Since April is jazz month, we examine the life and career of the kilted jazz bagpiper, Rufus Harley. And speaking of music, we debate the possibility of playing some independent music artists on the podcast. Good idea or not? Rick discusses things that we crave and lists a few facts about one of his cravings, popcorn. A rant soon follows about the making of kilt pins. Rick believes they are incorrectly made and attempts to sway the entire kilt pin industry to making kilt pins the way he thinks they should be made. Our Live Beer Review features Liquid Bliss from Terrapin Brewing Company. Thanks for supporting us and listening to the podcast. Subscribe to us and give a review on your podcast distributor!

  • LIAKP Episode 33 - Arrive Alive

    13/04/2017 Duración: 01h01s

We're feeling a bit mellow in Episode 33 after all the Tartan Day Kilt Con festivities. After a bit of a recap of the festivities, Rick mentions some facts about the month of April and reveals some rejected Department of Transportation road signs. Cheri goes on a beer adventure with Doug in a Pub and Rick opens his new kilts. Everything winds up with a Live Beer Review of Vienna Lager from Devil's Backbone Brewing Company.

  • LIAKP Episode 32 - Tartan Day

    05/04/2017 Duración: 57min

Happy Tartan Day (Week) everyone! We're all ready for our celebration with Kilt Con 2017 and hope you can get out and celebrate at the Kilt Con Event closest to you. We'll be live broadcasting a podcast from the Atlanta Event so check LifeInAKiltPodcast.com for the latest details. On the podcast this week, we get a fantastic package filled with kilt koozies from Kilted50ForCharity. Go check him out on Facebook and order one of your own. They're great! Thanks Mike! We examine the Burning of Atlanta: the Interstate Tragedy and talk about Game of Thrones, coal mining and kilt wearers who are doing it so much better than the rest of us. Also, Rick has apparently purchased two more kilts. Please, someone stop him before he has to mortgage his house. Cheri is just sleepy and the Live Beer Review didn't help keep her awake. It's the Delicious Backwoods Bastard by Founders Brewing Company. Thanks for listening, friends! Get kilted and enjoy Tartan Day!

  • LIAKP Episode 31 - Getting Personal

    30/03/2017 Duración: 01h09min

(SOUND FILE UPDATED to replace previous wonky file) Well, it's one week until Kilt Con 2017! We've been planning and preparing and didn't have time to record the podcast in our usual studio so we set up our remote equipment in Cheri's living room. This, combined with three beers, a glass of Scotch and a glass of wine, makes Cheri a bit... chatty. Rick feels like could be a good time to reveal something personal to the listeners. How bad could that turn out? Rick and Cheri prepare for a radio interview next week and Rick is concerned Cheri might get a bit out of line (How bad could that turn out?). The Kilt Con Events are mostly settled and we encourage everyone to try to attend an Event close to you. If you can't don't forget, next week's podcast will be a LIVE video podcast from Kilt Con Atlanta. Our Live Beer Review this week is Sticky Stout by Red Hare Brewing Company. See you at Kilt Con, friends!

  • LIAKP Episode 30 Getting To Know You

    22/03/2017 Duración: 01h14min

It was a great St. Patrick's Day party and we give you a bit of a recap, including the joys of kilts and drunk pub girls. Rick is excited about his new kilt from Sport Kilt but is confused about why they would ship it to him in a cardboard tube. What's the deal? Find out as he opens the tube during the podcast. Rick wonders if Cheri is happily single or could she be faking her joy? Rick proceeds to ask Cheri several questions so people can get to know her on a more intimate level. You might need a cold shower after this one. But only because it's over 90 degrees on the second day of spring. We cut some Irish cheese and enjoy it with our Live Beer Review which this week is Allagash Brewing Company's White. A beer which goes wonderfully well with the cheese we are eating. Thanks for listening to us, friends! Don't forget to drop us an email and say "Hi!"

Also, Cheri shares some of the worst things about St. Patrick's Day. We've all seen these. Rick prepares for his first colonoscopy and Cheri reveals a dream that can land her in jail. 3 new Kilt Con Events go on the books. Is there one near you? Our Live Beer Review is another double review with Great Divide Brewing Company's Claymore Scotch Ale and Sierra Nevada's Bigfoot Barleywine Style Ale. Thanks for your support, friends! • LIAKP Episode 27 - The Old Sick Podcast

    02/03/2017 Duración: 01h12min

We're back in full force after last week's Kilt Con 2017 announcement and sound screw up. Although maybe we should start calling the podcast the Old, Sick Podcast since we have way too many ailments to complain about. It's National Trivia Day (not really) so we celebrate with some trivia bits. Cheri shares some truly disgusting news from the world and Rick provides some details of what it takes to host a Kilt Con Event. The Live Beer Review brings us a very local beer, Invocation by Wild Heaven Brewery. Thanks for listening to the Life In A Kilt Podcast, friends!

Rick is on the mend from some sort of stomach thingie which caused him to carefully examine the art of hurling. Last week's sickness to the podcast laptop is repaired and everything is back to normal there (well, except the sound screw up). Rick and Cheri try to figure out what would be the perfect Life In A Kilt Podcast Drinking Game. Speaking of drinking, two beers are reviewed in this episode: Monday Night Brewing's Bourbon Barrel Drafty Kilt (in absentia) and Even More Jesus by Evil Twin Brewing. Get kilted up and join us for Kilt Con 2017!

We play another round of "Tartan Renown or Fartin' Around" and discuss our Best Thing in Life for the week. Our Live Beer Review features the tasty Wilco Tango Foxtrot Ale from Lagunitas Brewing Company. So tasty, in fact, we forgot to actually give it a rating! First time for everything, folks!
