  • 320 | Redeeming Our Devices: part 2 of 2 (with Noah Martin)

    20/04/2026 Duración: 47min

(2 of 2). We have been talking about how to redeem our devices. Noah Martin has been studying this very issue for some time, and joins the podcast to discuss his findings in a conversational way. We are considering (A) The Pursuit of Wisdom; (B) The Power of Presence; and (C) Building Better Balance. Questions for us to consider: (1) Are my current behaviors with my phone drawing me toward God or away from Him? (2) Do my current behaviors with my phone expose my freedom in Christ or my bondage to man’s inventions? (3) How is my screen time affecting my ability to independently think, relationally develop, and spiritually commune? (1 of 2). We need to talk about our phones. Noah Martin has been studying this very issue for some time, and joins the podcast to discuss his findings in a conversational way. This is not an anti-phones, anti-screen time study – it is an anti "do nothing with my life because I wasted all my time not thinking about what I was doing and that usually happens when I’m on my phone" study. We want to draw attention to the ways we voluntarily yield our control and willingly fragment our attention spans through unsustainable digital habits, and we want to use God’s powerful word to show us ways that we can redeem our devices for His purposes in our lives. • 318 | Preventing Procrastination: part 2 of 2 (with Jimmy Cating)

    30/03/2026 Duración: 44min

(2 of 2) Do you know what the busiest day of the week is? I'll give you a hint, it starts with a "T". But it's not Tuesday, or Thursday. It's tomorrow. Tomorrow is often the busiest day of the week because what we intend to do and need to do often gets pushed off until tomorrow. To put off something until tomorrow what we should be doing today is called procrastination. Procrastination may seem harmless. We may dismiss it as simply an annoyance. If you have something that needs to be done and you keep putting it off, it hangs over your head, it can make you irritable and grumpy, cause you to worry, and you can even loose sleep over it. It can be a nuisance, but it can also lead to something far more serious. Procrastination can be a sin and be spiritually deadly. • 314 | Room at the Table of Gifts

    02/03/2026 Duración: 50min

The story of Mephibosheth in 2 Samuel illustrates God’s grace, honor, and the truth that there is always room at His table. Drawing from this, we consider a special type of table, the "Table of Gifts." The heart posture and practical expressions —such as service, teaching, leadership, generosity, mercy, and exhortation—are explored. • 311 | Whose Story are You Living In?

    26/01/2026 Duración: 55min

The following is a "SummaryAI Outline" of this episode: Genesis: Creation Fall **Genesis 1: Triune God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) dwells in perfect relationship and intentionally creates humans. Humans were created in the image of God, given dominion and purpose as God's agents of light, love, truth, freedom, creativity, joy, and beauty. **Genesis 2: Man and woman lived in covenant harmony, received work and a boundary, and were naked and not ashamed (nakedness as vulnerability, intimacy, unashamedness). **Genesis 3: The serpent (Hebrew: 'the accuser') told a counter-story—"Did God really say?"— portraying God as withholding and untrustworthy. Belief in the accuser's story produced sin: eyes were opened, shame replaced innocence, they made fig-leaf coverings and hid from God, showing shame leads to covering and hiding. 2 Corinthians: Godly vs Worldly Grief 2 Corinthians 7:9: Text rejoices because believers were grieved into repenting. Both forms of grief cause sorrow; one is useful, one is not. Godly grief

  • 310 | How Will This Give God Glory?

    05/01/2026 Duración: 37min

What is glory? What does it mean to "give God glory"? And how do we do it, anyway? Today's episode is a reflection on a Christian word that we use so frequently and yet sometimes do not stop to reflect upon the concept itself. Beyond the concept of glory, we want to spend time processing how our lives, with the good and the bad, give God glory. • 308 | A Balanced Reflection on Mental Health Care

    15/12/2025 Duración: 01h05min

Today we will explore a balanced reflection on mental health care. A recent article asserts that "therapy is becoming a new religion" . The article rightly names real problems — pop-psychology, over-pathologizing, influencer authority, and self-centered uses of “healing” language—but these are distortions of therapy, not therapy itself. Good mental health care is relational, accountable, and growth-oriented; it ought not replace faith, meaning, or community, and responsible clinicians are often the first to critique these excesses. Join us as we process how to balance mental and spiritual health. *** Link to article: https://medium.com/@Abdulsalamabdul864/why-therapy-is-becoming-the-new-religion-and-thats-not-a-good-thing-1bea9794d715 *** Links: (1) Help make PSB better: become a Patron at www.patreon.com/PureandSimpleBible.
