Dr. Fellers is a native Mainer. He completed his undergraduate studies in chemistry at MIT before attending Cornell University Medical College. During his psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia, he gained clinical research experience recruiting, running, and managing medication trials that use the human laboratory for the evaluation of medications for substance use disorders. Dr. Fellers further developed his clinical and research skills during an addiction Psychiatry fellowship at Oregon Health & Sciences University and a postdoctoral training fellowship at the Portland VA healthcare System. Since his return to Maine in 2015, Dr. Fellers has led the development and implementation of several successful programs in response to the State’s opioid epidemic. Speaker: Daisy Goodman, CNM, DNP, MPH Dr. Goodman will describe factors which complicate treatment of pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders; identify key interventions to improve quality and outcomes and decrease healthcare costs for this population; and explore alternative models to help address barriers to care. Dr. Goodman is a certified nurse-midwife and a clinical assistant professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Geisel School of Medicine, and teaches quality improvement at The Dartmouth Institute. She coordinates women’s health services for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Perinatal Addiction Treatment Program. Her research and work in quality improvement focuses on access to treatment and reproductive health care for pregnant and parenting women with substance use disorders, and the intersection between trauma and drug and alcohol use in women’s lives.

Objective: The objective and purpose is that attendees will have a greater understanding of opioid use disorder, including overdose prevention and recognition, use of naloxone, and laws pertaining to naloxone. Speaker: Zoe Odlin-Platz Zoe has been working in harm reduction since 2009. She is a Community Health Promotion Specialist with the City of Portland’s Public Health Division and oversees the daily operations of the Portland Needle Exchange Program. Zoe helped to implement both a community sharps box campaign and a naloxone distribution protocol. In 2012, Zoe helped form I AM HERE Outreach Team, which is volunteer run and does street-based needle exchange, harm reduction, overdose response education and safe sharps disposal. This team is responsible for organizing the International overdose Awareness March and Vigil that is held each year in Portland. Zoe is a co-founder of the Maine Harm Reduction Alliance and chairs the education committee and sits on the Overdose Prevention Task Force for the City of

Kelley Bowden will bring us up to date on the latest Snuggle ME Guidelines and has outlined the following objectives: Locate the Snuggle ME guidelines on the Maine CDC website Identify a minimum of three components to the guidelines Utilize information to care for pregnant women with Substance Use Disorder and their newborns.

Nationally renowned Ross Greene, an expert in the the field of ADHD in children, provides an overview of Collaborative & Proactive Solutions: Lives in the Balance. Dr. Greene shares his work collaborating between kids and adults in resolving the problems contributing to children's behavioral challenges. Objectives: 1. Provide an overview of Lives in the Balance CPS model and how to support collaborative and proactive solutions improve the lives of families and children who are behaviorally challenged. 2. Highlight ways that primary care physicians can work with families to promote positive parenting and disciplinary practices for children with ADHD. 3. Discuss ways that the CPS model has been implemented in the school setting and how primary care providers can work with schools to promote positive changes to working with children with ADHD.

Carol Hubbard discusses the topics of managing medications and their side effects. She also offers help with life situations, such as sleep, anxiety, and toileting to name a few.   Objectives: Develop more expertise in ADHD medication management and managing side effects. Highlight co-morbid conditions that may affect ADHD diagnosis, treatment and management including anxiety, autism, learning disabilities, and developmental delay, sleep, toileting, and GI issues. Highlight key quality improvement strategies and how they can be used to standardize ADHD work in the practice. Review current QI data to help guide the quality improvement process.
