Do you consider your journey to be unique? This story takes place after I'm already a nurse. It starts on a busy acute care unit- I was working in pulmonary transplant- and one day ran into a crying lady in the hallway. What she told me stopped me in my tracks and got me thinking... Not long after that, I was caring for a patient's gaping wound on the same hospital unit and suddenly stopped to "calibrate my senses." Amazingly, it seemed like my dear patient took the same pause- we looked around, listening to all the craziness on the unit... It seemed like healthcare pays too much attention to the process and too little attention to the purpose. Then I moved to homecare.  Homecare is unique, in that practitioners enter the homes of our patient
