Sinopsis
Dr. Lisa really DOES give a sh*t. Dr. Lisa Levy S.P. (Self-Proclaimed) has been performing unlicensed psychotherapy since 2001 - on stage, on the street and in her studio/office. Shes better than a lot of certified shrinks because psychoanalysis and therapy is not a job for her, its an obsession. Dr. Lisa will get to the essence of what makes people who they are and what their obstacles have been, and maybe help solve some issues along the way. She doesnt mess around either, why waste time since shes not making money on having people come back?"A Shrink with Stage Presence."- New York Times"Riotously Funny!" - London Times

DLG2021_ Dr. Lisa challenges Lisa Kaplan to take action on dating and career.
16/06/2017 Duración: 59minLisa is a really great, well-loved comedian who has had so much therapy, I don't have a lot to add to the conversation. But all that self-awareness needs action. At the end of this session I challenge Lisa to return to the show and report on at least ONE DATE and ONE STORYTELLING experience! #comedy #art #psychotherapy #dating

DLG1720_Mick Diflo is a comedian who's a paradox of unselfconscious talent.
16/06/2017 Duración: 59minI saw Mick perform at a great show-Morrison Motel from John Morrison and I was immediately taken with the quality of his work - SO SHARP! Here's something worth noting from his bio: "Mick is a former laborer, professional boxer, addiction counselor & skeptic who moved to NYC at 48 & began doing standup." My take on Mick after this session is that he's a natural and despite not having a obvious path to it, the comedian in his soul took over who he is. A talent who is unusually honestly humble, because of his natural abilty. IMHO, but you listen and tell me! http://mickdiflo.com/ WATCH: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=tZkwrhDZKIc #comedy #psychotherapy #art #radio

DLG1719 Dr. Lisa's best friend Margot, tells Dr. Lisa the truth about herself..
31/05/2017 Duración: 59minI think this was fairly brave of me. I invited my BFF of the last 30 years, writer http://www.goodreads.com/author/show/2739653.Margot_Berwin, to come on the show and answer honestly some tough questions about myself. If you're curious about my shortcomings-this episode is for you. Also, Margot tells me which old boyfriends were the most likely match-tho absolutely NONE comes anywhere near the match Phil is for me.

DLG1718_Ammo O'Day is an Esoteric Life Coach and has some advice for Dr. Lisa
26/05/2017 Duración: 59minAmmo O'Day is in a category by herself: an esoteric life coach. She utilizes fitness, nutrition, reiki, tarot, chakra work and magic to heal what ails you. http://thefitnesswitch.com/ I had the honor of spending this whole hour with her and learning about how she melds her practices and of course how it applies to me. We start out by my making her tell me what her impression of me was when we met a few weeks ago-She said something that I've heard from people who know me well, but never from a first impression. I'm still thinking about it! It seems to me that a defining factor for her was an emergency appendectomy she went through at 9 years old. This was a fascinating episode and kudos for Ammo for telling me things not easy for me to hear - but I ASKED! AND MOST IMPORTANTLY she now has an RFB show herself: I'M WITH MAGIC, Listen HERE: http://radiofreebrooklyn.com/ #psychotherapy #reiki #fitness #spirituality #witch

DLG1717 Bushwick Daily founder, Katarina Hybenova talks Entreprenurs Club
18/05/2017 Duración: 59minKatarina Hybenova is one of my heros and is an inspiration for many. Originally from Slovakia!!!, this brilliant go-getter has taken Bushwick by storm. She has created Bushwick Daily, has written 2 novels, and started Bushwick Entrepreneurs Club. She is married to an amazing artist (and musician!) Kenny Colors. Katarina has a lot of great pointers about life on one's own terms. We also had a great chat about our confusion about the gender of the cat that she cared for originally as a kitten. Where were those testicles!? https://www.facebook.com/groups/BushwickEntrepreneurs/ @kamelka

DLG2016_Pinc Louds and Bear come to the studio to play in every sense of the word~
06/05/2017 Duración: 59minI had run out of time and desperate to get a guest on my show in less than 24 hours. Magic happens when I get into the Delancey St. station and am drawn into Pinc Louds musical vortex. Talent, beauty and authenticity begin to describe this truly original being. Claudi brought her stand-up bass player, Bear and we had a super fun and revealing conversation about how Claudi came to America from an island and what her childhood was like (happy family, musician dad). Plus these two were so excited about being on the show, it boosted my self-esteem! https://www.facebook.com/pincloudsings/ https://pinclouds.bandcamp.com/ @pinc_louds #music #psychotherapy #pinclouds #art

26/04/2017 Duración: 59minGreat session today with Finley Christine! We talked about her experience at The Whitney Houston Biennial https://www.whitneyhoustonbiennial.com/ (mostly great), what she learned (engage with young collectors!) and her family and childhood-unconditional love and a hospice mother - and more that is too personal for writing here! DLG1714_New Yorker Cartoonist Jeremy Nguyen is SO BROOKLYN but not really.
24/04/2017 Duración: 59minI excavated this side of Jeremy that is pretty deep in there. He's a fantastic cartoonist that has broken a lot of ground making fun of Brooklyn hipsters. I dug into Jeremy and found out the important influence his Vietnamese immigrant parents have had on his becoming successful. They kicked ass to come here! This episode is heartily recommended for listening to any Trump supporters! Please check out Jeremy's incredible work here: http://www.jeremywinslife.com/ #art #comic #psychotherapy

DLG2013 Dr. Lisa just can't categorize musician Joseph Keckler.
12/04/2017 Duración: 57minThe easiest way to describe what Joseph Keckler makes is music. But that doesn't begin to cover it-the Vice Articles, videos, books and EVERYTHING.. The New York Times declared him a “major vocal talent” who “shatters conventional boundaries. In this session we explore Joseph's creative process and how he handles the press making such a fuss about him. He is very genuine the whole time I am asking him bull-in-a-china-shop questions. I got to meet him because he is the talent for the Art F City Benefit this year and I am helping plan it. LISTEN TO THIS MUSIC - completely unique and undescribable: http://www.josephkeckler.com/ And come to the Art F CIty Benefit, April 18th! http://artfcity.com/2017/03/21/announcing-the-art-f-city-goth-opera-a-benefit-youll-never-forget/ #music #opera @josephkeckler #art #artfcity #baroque #video @vice

DLG1712 Kosmo Vinyl talks about how he chose family over his success in Rock N Roll. SMART GUY.
29/03/2017 Duración: 59minKosmo Vinyl is currently an artist completely driven by his work which is terrific and funny: https://kosmovinyl.com/ Kosmo is famous for having managed the Clash but very humble about all that —we had a meaningful conversation about his growing up-very British blue collar-he was lured at a young age by his love of American blues and jazz. His life experiences are very much book-worthy, but as a "therapist" I wanted to understand why someone in the middle of an incredible rock and roll life would settle down to be a devoted father and husband. Let's just say - Kosmo had good values-he seems like a happy man who has great relationships with his young men sons and wife. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosmo_Vinyl #art #music #theClash #therapy

DLG1708 Sharon Spell, comedian. Three lives in one!
28/03/2017 Duración: 59minI really connected with Sharon Spell. Sharon is a comedian and podcast host of https://www.facebook.com/TheSharonSpellShow I had that rare feeling of a new best friend - brought down by the reality that we're all too busy to hang out anymore. Sharon spoke honestly and directly about drinking, divorce and how great things are now after all she's been through. Her guy she's with now is a keeper! #comedy #divorce #drinking #therapy

DLG1707 Casey James Salengo, comedian and potential blind date.
28/03/2017 Duración: 59minI invited comedian Casey James Salengo https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=StE2tnXqaU8 Montreal Fresh Faces-and a Comedy Central 1/2hr to come - tres talented and funny. He's also good-looking. I put it out there that the ladies should call in for a blind date and with him.... and well, I spent most of the time digging into his history and personality. He turned out to be a lot more substantial and mature than I was prepared for! #comedy #therapy #art

DLG1706_I can't quite describe this session, but it was powerful.
20/02/2017 Duración: 59minHow does a juvenile deliquent become highly educated? The hard way! Owner of the tattoo parlor DO OR DIE, Pete Dutro talks about his twisted journey through life so far. Among other things, Pete was finance manager of #OccupyWallSt. I learn that a man with cancer can get laid. A LOT. Pete's healthy now. And that's what counts. https://www.facebook.com/DoOrDieTattoo/ #art #psychotherapy #tattoo Shout-out to Paul D'Agostino, http://centotto.com/ (ep.1633), artist, curator, potential brain surgeon for setting this up and the call-in prompting a beautiful story about Peter and his 10-yr old daughter.

DLG1705_Dr. Lisa arranges a BLIND DATE in the studio.
13/02/2017 Duración: 59minI introduce two lovely, single, young people, Erose and James to each other. They are both musicians, so I start off their date with them listening to each other's music. BOTH VERY TALENTED. We talk awkwardness (not really) attachment types, she's secure, he's ambivalent, and then we evaluate their Tinder profiles. Also, by digging in, we find that James may have some past that needs cleanup. Is this a match? DLG1704_Cibele Viera + Nina Keneally discuss the Women's March bus trip they organized.
03/02/2017 Duración: 59minTwo women from Bushwick take their verteran artist organizing skills and put them to use to take women on a trip to the Womens March in Washington on Saturday, Jan 21. What's it like getting on a bus at 4am? Where did you go to the bathroom. We discuss details like that and much more important issues. Like the effect the Trump election has on men. And the feeling of joy in being part of a united front brings to these women is infectious!

DLG1703 Singer/Songwriter Nathan Leigh visits Dr. Lisa right before his album launch.
25/01/2017 Duración: 59minDR. LISA’S LEVY, S.P. (Self-Proclaimed) REPORT: Nathan Leigh Nathan was a bright, open, confident and appealing young man. His music career is genuinely happening – he is making a living from commissions of his work. He’s had a few struggles including severe man-handling by the NYPD and somewhat recent broken relationship which can be traced back to his mother to some degree. Nathan genuinely seems to be able to help himself through his creativity. I was amazed at how connected his music that he played in the studio echoed his experiences COUNTERTRANSFERENCE: (How I felt about this interview.) Nathan had his publicist set this whole thing up so I didn’t get much sense of him until we met. He was much more open than I expected since I started out suspicious due to the whole hiding behind his publicist scenario that I had imagined in my neurotic head, MORE INFO ABOUT NATHAN LEIGH: Excerpt from a note from Nathan’s publicist: Hope you are doing well! I wanted to reach out about indie-folk/folk-punk singer

DLG0217_Jim Torok - Two Artists in One!
17/01/2017 Duración: 59minDR. LISA’S LEVY, S.P. (Self-Proclaimed) REPORT: Artist Jim Torok After seeing Jim’s new work at his show opening I knew I had to have him on because his big read painting was about his anxiety. GREAT SHOW btw, at Pierogi 155 Suffolk St. – check it out: http://www.pierogi2000.com/2016/12/jim-torok-at-pierogi-3/ Up till Feb. 12, 2017! After I tell Jim that he can’t read his 10-page self-report on the air, we settle in to uncovering why and how he can seriously pursue two distinct styles of art making. Jim grew up in South Bend, Indiana in a very normal environment and turns out he was a disrupter (euphemism). His dad was an artist but worked a normal job so Jim and his family could eat. But Jim threw that all away by becoming a serious artist. Jim made art so he didn’t get beat up by the other kids, trading drawings for protection. COUNTERTRANSFERENCE: (How I felt about this interview.) I knew I would feel comfortable with Jim because he’s relaxed in that neurotic way that I identify with. The one thing I w

DLG1701_Took Edalow is over Dr. Lisa's head.
13/01/2017 Duración: 59minDR. LISA’S LEVY, S.P. (Self-Proclaimed) REPORT: Took is amazing—she is so creative and unafraid, plus smart. I learned a bit about where Took get’s her staunch freedom and activism from; her mother was overbearing, it seems as if she may have had some trauma herself. Took was extremely rebellious in adolescence, yet currently enjoys a good relationship with both parents who remain married. It was fascinating to hear Took’s stories of participation in the Occupy Wall Street Movement (she lived there in a tent) and subsequent stays on communes. Currently Took has her own RFB show, https://audioboom.com/channel/what-would-save-the-world and performs and creates regularly. As Took knows, I am very impressed with her talents and her achievements. She is a roaring fountain of ideas and I would recommend she work towards harnessing her energy at some point (she’s only 24!) in more specific ways so she can achieve everything she wants. COUNTERTRANSFERENCE: (How I felt about this interview.) As I told Took, I wa

DLG1650_Dr. Lisa asks artist Thedra Cullar-Ledford inappropriate questions in front of her teen-age son.
27/12/2016 Duración: 46minArtist Thedra Cullar-Ledford is super out-there and fabulous as is her work, but I'll bet she wasn't prepared to elaborate on her sex life in front of her 15-year old son, Sage. Check out Thedra's work: http://www.independenceartstudios.com/thedra/ which is explicit and you'll get a taste of why this mother/son relationship is not like the ones you see on TV. #art #breasts #mother #son #psychology #ContemporaryMuseumofArtHouston
