Folks, Summerfolk has come and gone for another year and it was ... well, it was different. But we all know why and there's no point belabouring that increasingly stale pandemic narrative. Host, Kelly Babcock takes you on one more tour of music by some of the performers of Summerfolk 46 with one additional song thrown in from our friend and performer from past Summerfolk seasons, Shawna Caspi whose album, Hurricane Coming, has just been released.. The SF46 performers we played tracks from this week included Julian Taylor, Madison Violet, Emm Gryner, Basset the Band, the Slocan Ramblers, Jaffa Road, Mimi O'Bansawin, Benjamin Dakota Rogers, Danny Michel, Samantha Martin & Delta Sugar, and Terra Lightfoot. In celebration of the little festival that could, and was: Summerfolk 46. Since it was impossible to catch all the acts, at all the venues, here's a handy sampler of a few of the great sounds the Georgian Bay Folk Society brought to Owen Sound this year. Travel by ear around the world with Jaffa Road, Moskitto Bar, Okan and Quique Escamilla. Revel in the shimmering guitars of Tony McManus & Julia Toaspern, the heavy riffs of Terra Lightfoot and the deep groove of Ray Bonneville. Rock out with The Skydiggers, get down with the bluegrass of the Slocan Ramblers, surround yourself in the voices of Crystal Shawanda and Evangeline Gentle. And from Kurt Swinghammer, a real special cut called 'Owen Sound'. These artists performed all over the scenic city for one weekend, and for one hour only they're all together on this episode of Georgian Bay Roots!

A celebration of all things musical and francophone coming out of Penetang and Lafontaine with an emphasis on the role of Neil Lefaive throughout. The proceedings kick off in official fashion with the franco-ontarian anthem (albeit the dubstep version!) and a sampling of tracks from Penetanguishene Secondary School's concert band album circa 1975 before diving headlong into Monsieur Lefaive's production and mentoring work with Brouhaha and Brasse Camarade. We check in with École Secondaire LeCaron's woodshop teacher André Forget, area music teacher Michel Paiement and local artists Antoine Devillers, À Qui De Droit, Georgian Bay and Damien Robitaille. After hearing so much of his production (and solo sax skills in the PSS Concert Band) you'll get to hear a track from the man of the hour himself, Neil Lefaive, with a cut from his ongoing (since 1992!) project Fiddes-Lefaive. The show is rounded out with a summery track from Joëlle Roy, a more traditionally inspired tune from Ariko and, finally, wrappin
