  • #488 - Halloween 2020

    23/10/2020 Duración: 01h48min

We are joined by Ray Harrington this week! The self-proclaimed "Great Pumpkin" of comedy joins us for our yearly Chuck and Brad Podcast Halloween episode! We discuss some of the challenges that come with a pandemic Halloween. Chuck talks about the film Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark, then we discuss the new Adam Sandler film Hubie Halloween. Chuck and I offer some paltry Rejected Halloween Costumes (our worst ever), then Ray joins in on the fun. I educate Chuck and Ray about the history of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and things go off the rails. We then (surprisingly) learn about Ray's love of the Ernest films. I pose a Would You Rather? to Chuck and Ray and - to their credit - they answer it. We then briefly discuss why we are so interested in things that scare us, culminating in Ray's note-perfect Australian accent. - Brad MP3 Download

  • #487 - The Story of Ernie O'Donnell

    16/10/2020 Duración: 02h01min

Chuck and I kick things off with a quick discussion about how busy he has been recently. I affirm my commitment to stillness and solitude and Chuck seems to intentionally misunderstand! After a few pieces of listener feedback, we throw it to an interview Chuck completed with Ernie O'Donnell. You may know him as Rick Derris from Clerks or any number of other creative projects. In addition, Ernie talks about Smodcastle East and the future for live events in and around Red Bank, NJ. We come back and Chuck shares the tale of a former friend and we weigh whether or not we should have this person on the podcast. - Brad MP3 Download

  • #486 - Borat 2, Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, and Jamie Foxx as Electro (Again!)

    08/10/2020 Duración: 01h16min

We start off this week, of course, by not really remembering or understanding Rumpelstiltskin. What a weird story. Chuck puts the finishing touches on his tale about working for Kevin Smith and filming the live Jay and Silent Bob Get Old Tenth Anniversary show a few weeks ago. We talk about the movie The Box and whether or not we would push a button that gives us a million dollars (and causes someone else's death). Conan O'Brien has signed a new deal with Audible and we discuss what that means for podcasting. We discuss our feelings about Borat and the Borat 2 trailer. Chuck tells me all about the movie Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, which leads to discuss about scare pranks in general (and in specific). We close this week with a discussion about Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro in a future Spider-Man film - will this be part of a multiverse for the Marvel movies, or is it just a unique casting decision? - Brad MP3 Download

  • #485 - The Story of Ming Chen - Part 2

    02/10/2020 Duración: 02h15min

The finale of our TESD Town History Series (before it switches to a new platform to continue)! Chuck once again sits down with Ming Chen and gets the story of his life from late 2001 to the present day! Hear how he was laid off by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, and his slow transition from meek web guy to outgoing podcast superstar! After the interview, Chuck and I talk about this upcoming Halloween, and our favorite Halloween-enhancing creative projects. We close with a story from our 2018 Halloween episode, as Chuck relates the story of a man running for town council and reveal a shocking secret from the candidate's past! - Brad MP3 Download

  • #484 - Chuck's SmodCo Experience, Documentary Quality, and Letting Go Of Old Art

    24/09/2020 Duración: 01h29min

Just Chuck and I this week, but we have plenty of Smod Content for all the Ants who now love us (maybe?)! We talk about Song Exploder and the trailers for WandaVision and Console Wars (with a slight tangent to the Cola Wars of the 80's). We get psyched for the Scott Pilgrim game re-release and express concerns and joy about the Adam Sandler film "Hubie Halloween." Chuck tells me about the documentary "Class Action Park" and its quality. We then discuss Pretending I'm A Superman, a documentary about the history of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater games, as well as Happy Happy Joy Joy, a documentary about Ren and Stimpy. We discuss the re-release of Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 and 2 for current gen systems and briefly mention the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection. Chuck tells me about Being John Malkovich, which somehow gets us to the Clinton/Lewinsky scandal. Chuck then regales me with the tale of his recent trip to Jersey. Filming for Jay and Silent Bob Get Old, eating at Mooby's, hanging at Smodcastle - fun stuff acros

Part four in our multi-part miniseries, "TESD Town History!" We learn about Mike's background and the winding road he has taken to get to where he is. How did he find his calling? Listen and find out! After the interview, Chuck and I call upon you, the listeners, to settle a longstanding disagreement about Chuck's treatment of a fast food employee. I then offer TWO embarrassing stories from my past and Chuck chimes in with an embarrassing story of his own. We were so young! - Chuck MP3 Download

After the interview, Brad and I tell a story about the time I accidentally got a bomb squad called to a comic con, and I lament, "Why doesn't anyone understand it was just an ACCIDENT?!?" - Chuck MP3 Download

    27/08/2020 Duración: 01h36min

We take a one-week break from "TESD Town History" this week, but it will be back next week! We talk about the upcoming reboot of The Thing and get on a whole tangent about getting stranded in a blizzard a few years back. We talk about the upcoming Action Park documentary, the surprising cancellations of Tosh.O and Drunk History, the HBO Max Seth Rogen movie An American Pickle, then the new documentary series on Netflix about the history of video games - High Score. Chuck raves about the documentary series I'll Be Gone In The Dark and we vow (?) to solve a cold murder case before the end of the year. After that, we talk about the announcements that came from this year's DC Fandome event. Our levels of excitment and caution do NOT match as we discuss the games Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League. We discuss the upcoming Flash movie and of course...the trailer for The Batma

  • #478 - The Story of Walt Flanagan

    13/08/2020 Duración: 02h09min

Part one in a multi-part miniseries, "TESD Town History!" Chuck sits down for an in-person one-on-one with Walt Flanagan of Tell 'Em Steve-Dave, inside Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash. Walt talks about his entire life in creativity - from drawing comics, to starring in AMC's "Comic Book Men," to reluctantly starting the podcast, and now showrunning a massively successful Patreon. We also hear how about Chuck's eventual involvement and a funeral invitation led to Walt and Chuck connecting (yes, seriously). It's an incredibly interesting dive into the experiences of an incredibly interesting man. After that, Chuck forces me to tell an embarrassing story from my past in which I feud with a Salvation Army Santa Calus. Also - yes, seriously. - Brad MP3 Download

  • #477 - Our Trip To New Hampshire (and BONUS CONTENT from Jersey!)

    06/08/2020 Duración: 01h34min

This is an unusual episode! Comedian Robert Kelly kicks off the show with a plug for his upcoming show at the Comedy Connection in East Providence, RI. But then, recorded while in transit from New Hampshire back to the friendly confines of Rhode Island, this episode features longtime pal Katy Johnson. We talk about our trip to New Hampshire - how did we stay safe, what restaurants did we eat at, what natural wonders awed and wowed us, how many things did Katy and Chuck bicker about? Important stuff like that! Learn how I feel about surrendering control to a river's current! And don't forget the BONUS CONTENT recorded in Jersey, as Chuck calls me in the middle of my workday to tell me about his hellacious Holiday Inn experience! - Brad MP3 Download

  • #476 - Comic-Con At Home, Danny Trejo, and the Child's Play TV Series

Chuck talks about the Land of the Giants podcasts featuring Netflix, as well as a documentary about Danny Trejo. We discuss the Child's Play TV show/movie series. I love doing the podcast. Just throwing that out there. We talk about what we've been up to, including teasing a big story for next week. I talk about my birthday weekend and what that felt like during these bizarre times. Chuck talks about a series of stressful incidents from earlier this week. We talk about being alone with our thoughts and how podcasts/TV shows help with that. From there, we discuss our experiences with/expectations of straight-to-streaming films. This segues neatly into a spoiler-free discussion of the direct-to-Hulu film "Palm Springs." We talk about it spoiler-free, then make it abundantly clear when we're about to dive into spoiler territory and further discuss the film. - Brad MP3 Download

  • #473 - Reminiscing About a Normal Summer

    03/07/2020 Duración: 07h11min

Yo yo yo! It's Chuck and I am coming at you from a filming trip in New Jersey with Tell 'Em Steve-Dave! I am spending the next week at Jay and Silent Bob's Secret Stash working with the TESD guys. This trip kind of came up last minute, Brad was also going on vacation, and we did not have time to record a new episode before I left. I was racking my brain on what we could do for an episode, and ultimately I decided that maybe a little trip down memory lane to LAST summer would be fun, in this time where we can't do so many things that are normal for us. This is a little episode with clips of all the normal stuff we'd be doing (our live comedy shows, our hosting gigs for food events, playing concerts, going to see comedians and musicians, etc) if there wasn't a pandemic on our hands. Hopefully you guys will have a fun time with us reminiscing, and we can all look forward to a future where everyone can spend time together again enjoying life. - Chuck MP3 Download

  • #472 - Brad's Coffee Clumsiness, Chuck Loves "90-Day Fiancee," and Saving Silverman

    26/06/2020 Duración: 01h22min

When you get coffee for other people, where do you put it in your car? And how did that work out for Brad this week? We talk about my instant karma, then Chuck gushes - almost inappropriately so - about his fondness for the show "90-Day Fiance." We talk about new HBO Podcasts and a new EP from The Front Bottoms. Chuck tells me about his night out at the socially-distanced Comedy Connection in Providence, then about meals at Metacom Kitchen, La Pinata, Butterbang Croissants, and Vienna Bakery. Wow! So much food! I talk about my experience watching the Artemis Fowl movie on Disney Plus, we talk about DL Hughley collapsing on stage, and we close with Chuck's affectionate take on the movie "Saving Silverman." - Brad MP3 Download

  • #471 - Palm Springs, Quarantine TV Episodes, and The King of Staten Island

    18/06/2020 Duración: 01h34min

We are audio-only this week! We talk about that for a lil' bit, then Chuck tells me about new podcasts from Chris DeMakes and Mike Birbiglia. We discuss the trailer for the upcoming film "Palm Springs" and time-loop movies in general. We get hyped for the upcoming HBO documentary "I'll Be Gone In The Dark." We talk about the 30 Rock special coming out in a few weeks and talk about the impermanence of quarantine episodes. Chuck tells me about a Disney d23 special that is not what he thought it was, and ends up talking about "Prop Culture" on Disney+. We talk about some movies we watched this week, and Chuck talks about his parents' recent car accident as well as his recent doctor's visit. Disgusting. I talk a little bit about my church talent show. We offer a spoiler-free review of the new Judd Apatow movie "The King of Staten Island," then make it clear when spoilers will start, then offer our spoiler-full thoughts on the film! - Brad MP3 Download

  • #470 - Judd Apatow's Comedy Documentaries, Frank Turner/NoFX Collaoration, and "I'm Lactose"

After that, Chuck claims that people often say "I'm lactose" when they mean "I'm lactose intolerant" and I am NOT having it. Chuck shares some lil' stories from his past week including losing a credit card. We discuss the Frank Turner/NoFX split album coming out in July, then talk about the upcoming Judd Apatow-produced George Carlin documentary. Chuck tries to get me excited for some new Metal Slug games, then we speculate about casting additions to the MCU. I talk about movies I've watched recently, including Hell or High Water. Chuck raves about his renewed love for This Is The End, then offers thoughts on Zombieland 2. He tells me about starting the show Breaking Bad, then we close with a quick discussion about his new car and look to social media to find out if other people are cool with "I'm lactose." - Brad MP3 Download | FB Vid
