John writes his third letter to a man in the church named Gaius. He was a faithful man who loved Jesus and demonstrated that he knew Jesus by loving like Jesus. - 3 John 1:1-15

Providing further assurance for believers, John tells us the water, the blood, and the Holy Spirit testify of Jesus. Furthermore, he tells us that God has given us life in His Son. - 1 John 5:6-12

While describing observable marks of those who know God, John tells us that those who indeed know God obey His commandments and that it is their delight to do so. - 1 John 5:1-5

John shares his testimony about who Jesus is. He says that he has seen and testified to the Father sending the Son as the Savior of the world and that he has known and believed God's love for us. - 1 John 4:13-21

John exhorts believers to love one another and directs us to the love displayed through Christ at the cross. - 1 John 4:7-12

John tells us the way believers can assess others claims to know God is through a christological test. - 1 John 4:1-6

John identifies love as a mark of the believer, saying that if people say they know God, they must also love the brothers. - 1 John 3:11-24

John exhorts his readers to continue to abide in Christ and calls them to remember the love the Father has given to us. - 1 John 2:28-3:10

John gives a warning based on the appearance of antichrist spirits and a test which Christians can use to be assured of their relationship with the Father. - 1 John 2:18-27

John writes to assure his readers that they know God, reminding them of what Christ has done for them. He goes on to give a strong warning about creating a worldly identity, saying those who do such a thing do not know the Father. - 1 John 2:12-17

John appeals to the Great Commandment given by Jesus to love God and to love your neighbor. - 1 John 2:7-11

John gives us a foundational statement, remarking that the purpose of his writing is so that his readers may not sin. He goes on to give a test by which we can check our progress and an exhortation to follow Jesus. - 1 John 2:1-6

John returns to a theme he instituted in the fourth gospel - God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. - 1 John 1:5-10

John writes of how Christ has made provision for fellowship, the purpose of fellowship, and shares the result of fellowship with God. - 1 John 1:1-4

Paul turns his attention to evangelism. He requests prayer for his own mission field and then encourages the Colossians to orient themselves toward outsiders in a way that would give them opportunity to win people for Christ. - Colossians 4:2-6
