#35: NAMI San Diego: Ending the Mental Health Stigma

In this episode, we are honored to have The National Alliance on Mental Illness in San Diego (NAMI San Diego)'s Child, Youth and Families Program Manager Valerie Hebert and Family Programs Manager, Annette Arehart on breaking the STIGMA on MENTAL HEALTH. NAMI has three core mission statements: "Support people with mental illnesses and their families by helping them find coping mechanisms for their daily struggle with brain disorders. Educate people who have mental illness, their families, and the general public about mental illness with the goal of dispelling ignorance and stigma. Advocate for more research and an improved system of mental health services across the nation." This group works on sharing of information and striving to end the stigma associated with mental illness.  NAMI provides help for families to cope and support their loved one living with mental illness and get a better understanding on what their loved one is going through to an extent.
