European truffles are famous for being expensive and adding a unique flavor to dishes. These truffles can go for $800/lb or more, mostly because of their difficulty being cultivated. But it turns out, Oregon has it's own truffles! Western Oregon, particularly the small area I live in is prime truffle territory. Oregon black and white truffles have become more popular in the recent years, they're very similar to the European truffles and have the same culinary uses.
