The authors of Paper Tiger on the downfall of Independent Newspapers

Informações:

Sinopsis

When Independent Newspapers was bought by Iqbal Survé’s Sekunjalo Independent Media Consortium, journalists at South Africa’s biggest newspaper firm were optimistic that local ownership would put an end to the callous management of its Irish overlords of the previous two decades. What followed instead was media capture in action – blatant and at times bizarre. It was kicked off by the unexpected dismissal of Cape Times editor Alide Dasnois. In Paper Tiger, Alide and Chris Whitfield ─ the then editor-in-chief of the company’s Cape titles ─ tell the inside story. Herman Wasserman talks to them about their experience.
