Until around age 30, your muscles grow larger and stronger. At some point in that third decade, you start to lose muscle mass and function. You can lose as much as 3-5% of that muscle mass each decade after age 30. The term for this is “age-related sarcopenia.” Even if you’re active, you can still lose muscle if you’re not training and eating properly. Why is all of this so important?
