David von Storch, president of Urban Adventures Companies, Inc., has had a successful 22-year entrepreneurial career influenced by a very personal struggle. David is living with HIV. Diagnosed in 1988, the disease has subtly touched many of his business decisions ever since. The devastation David felt at the discovery of his positive status has shifted in the past 20+ years, profoundly influencing the way he lives his life and runs his businesses. His decisions to open VIDA Fitness, to ban trans fats on all menu items at Capitol City Brewing Company restaurants can be traced to his HIV status and the need to take care of himself physically, emotionally and spiritually. While his businesses continue to grow, David did not set out to be an ambassador for AIDS awareness through his entrepreneurial ventures. While HIV touches his everyday personal life, it is not the driving force behind his business decisions.
