Consultant psychiatrist Dr Johannes Cronje of Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust describes ‘Selling the sizzle not the sausage’ – a different approach to recruitment. Their traditional method of placing ads in a national journal was expensive and not having the desired impact.  They worked with The Guardian on sponsored editorials, using testimonials from staff and supporting with a range of promoted posts on social media. A key feature was video interviews by Deputy Medical Director Dr Arun Chidambaram with consultant colleagues about working at Mersey Care. The result was a huge increase in consultant recruitment.  Johannes was speaking at the Innovation Agency’s EngageWell event in May 2019
