It's as simple as a breathalyser test, but it could save your life. Scientists around the world, including here in Australia, are working on a number of projects to use breath analysis to reveal whether a patient has cancer. - Het is net zo eenvoudig als een blaastest, maar het kan je leven redden. Wetenschappers over de hele wereld, ook hier in Australië, doen verschillende onderzoeken naar ademanalyses die kunnen aantonen of een patiënt kanker heeft.

Rieny Nieuwenhof came to Australia in 1954, with his parents, when he was only 5 years old. He grew up near Geelong, studied to become a teacher, but was drafted in 1971 and deployed to Vietnam. Today, Rieny is the president of the Geelong and District Vietnam Veterans Association, and for his services to the veteran community, he was honoured with the Order of Australia Medal. - Op King’s Birthday worden traditioneel Koninklijke onderscheidingen uitgedeeld. Een van de mensen die dit jaar de Order of Australia Medal in ontvangst mag nemen is Rieny Nieuwenhof. Als klein jongetje kwam hij in 1954 met zijn ouders naar Australië. Hij groeide op in de buurt van Geelong, studeerde om leraar te worden, maar werd in 1971 opgeroepen voor de dienstplicht en werd uitgezonden naar Vietnam. Tegenwoordig is Rieny de voorzitter van de Geelong en District Vietnam Veterans Association en voor het vrijwilligerswerk wat hij daar doet krijgt hij de onderscheiding.

A group of Dutch Flying Doctors fans recently travelled to Australia to visit Minyip (Coopers Crossing), and catched up with some of the actors from the series. Astrid Esders, who back in the days started the Flying Doctors Fan Club in the Netherlands (1989 - 1995), initiated the trip. Nearly 40 years later, the series is still popular. - Onlangs reisde een groep Nederlandse Flying Doctors fans af naar Australië, voor een bezoek aan Minyip (Coopers Crossing) en ontmoetingen met enkele acteurs uit serie. Astrid Esders, de oprichter van de Flying Doctors Fanclub in Nederland (1989 - 1995), organiseerde de reis. Want bijna 40 jaar later leeft de serie nog steeds.
