Who Cares? …about Ross & Patrick

Cassandra Cushman is an actor. She's a writer. A psychic, a witch, a healer. She's so many things beyond this realm we can’t fit it all in this little paragraph. Take a listen as these three spirits connect on a multitude of levels and maybe life times! Whoa, man... One thing is for sure, Cassandra speaks Ross and Patrick’s language (and Peggy’s language too for that matter). She's a highly attuned witch who is incredibly well versed in astrology with an MFA in acting. Ross, Patrick, and Peggy went upstate for a family wedding and Patrick’s 20 year high school reunion. Everyone came away from the weekend feeling emotionally hungover from the bittersweet highs and the stress-induced lows. Ross and Patrick balanced having a good time with their respective brands of generalized anxiety while Peggy exhausted herself from love, attention, and gnawing through her crate cover. What they thought would be a fun recap of the weekend turned into a much deeper conversation about love, partnership, and showing up for each other. When Ross first met Patrick, he was a reality TV producer who used a blackberry constantly and hair product never. (Ross' subsequent fashion and cultural influence on him cannot be understated.) He also had a long term "work husband" by the name of Chuck Thornton with whom Patrick road-dogged across the country to tell the stories of many while eating the garbage of few (when it comes to food, they’re kind of alley cats). Ross and Patrick's main junk food TV show obsession is The Bachelor/Bachelorette franchise and its trash spawn, Bachelor in Paradise. The entire Bachelor brand is based on the myths we were all sold about love and relationships during our Disney-enhanced childhoods. On this episode, the Who Cares hosts discuss the first episode of Bachelor In Paradise, the drama that ensued, and how little do all these hormone-hyped contestants know, they’re all in open relationships and navigating them terribly. With a dog-eared copy of The Ethical Slut in hand, Ross and Patrick read some wise words from this revolutionary polyamory bible to discuss all the mistakes and missteps happening in Paradise.

Lindsay Goldwert is a journalist, podcaster, comedian, author, and all around fascinating human. She joins Ross and Patrick to discuss the exciting release of her first book, Bow Down: Lessons From Dominatrixes on How to Get Everything You Want. Listen as they dive into the taboo territories of sex and money and how empathy and empowerment are not mutually exclusive. This week Patrick and Ross catch up after being separated by The Road for four days. Welcome Peggy, the adorable mutt to the Holbertineau family. Peggy came into their life as a foster from In Our Hands Rescue and she’s staying in their lives as their doghter. Ross and Patrick talk about how becoming dog owners has already begun to change their lives for the better and the unexpected. Peggy is a precious little girl who makes people smile wherever she goes. What were they supposed to do, not adopt a living breathing stuffed animal?! What are you, insane???

Join Patrick and Ross on a walkabout in their neighborhood of Bushwick, Brooklyn. They grab a coffee, visit the dog park (where they are creepy dog voyeurs), spy on one of their favorite listeners (Hi, Kiersten!), and process the departure of some of their best friends from New York (farewell, Jen & Bay). Predominantly conservative white male legislators across this country are making decisions about female bodies, and the hypocritical snow ball effect knows no bounds. Ross does some research on exactly what these laws mean and where they’re taking place, all while mocking these men and their terrible southern accents.
